Fallow Deer
The fallow deer, which originally hailed from southwest Asia, was introduced into the Mediterranean region over 9,000 years ago.
Around 1100 AD the Normans introduced the fallow to England, and this species is now the most common deer in England.
They are also widespread in Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The male can weigh 80 to 140 pounds.
The fallow has a spotted coat with a longer tail than other deer. The males antlers are palmate in shape, which is more similar to moose antlers.
The Fallow Deers hunting grounds are located 20 minutes from the lodge.
